But then I see the kernel version is mentioned in Settings > Android version and it is the same date as the LineageOS version so I assume the kernel IS part of the LineageOS distro. And I would have to update/overwrite the kernel. I am wondering if there is any other software I need to wipe/update/install to ensure that there is NO old, possibly malware/spyware laden software on the phone.įor example, I see people make custom kernels and so I was wondering if the kernel is separate from the LineageOS distribution. I have a good working phone, very happy with it, and would like to thank the whole LineageOS community for all the work, software and support! I downloaded, verified and installed LineageOS on the phone. I downloaded, verified and updated TWRP on the phone. So I am trying to get rid of any existing old software by wiping, and updating or re-installing with new software. I would of course like to have a malware/spyware free phone and I would like to run only LineageOS on it. ![]() I am concerned that this phone may also have some malware/spyware installed on it. ![]() I just bought a used LG G3 from someone who had already put TWRP on it, as well as several mobile OS's including LineageOS, AOSP, UbuntuTouch, etc. I am brand new to LineageOS so maybe some noob questions here :)
